Description

Yuşan-Zillia — Music That Brings You Home. Proceeds from the sale of the records are directed to support the needs of the “Vidholos” Patronage Service of the Wolves da Vinci Battalion.

Yuşan-Zillia is a unique musical and poetic project that brings together Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar cultural traditions. Folk songs, traditional instruments, poetry, and contemporary musical interpretations come together to create a space for reflection on home, memory, roots, and return.

The name Yuşan-Zillia combines the Crimean Tatar word yuşan — wormwood, also known in Ukrainian as yevshan — and the Ukrainian word zillia, meaning herbs or plants. The image of yevshan has deep symbolic meaning in Ukrainian culture: according to an ancient legend, the scent of yevshan restores a person's memory of their homeland and reminds them of their roots.

This image became the symbol of the project — a memory that cannot be erased and a connection to the land that cannot be forgotten.

Yuşan-Zillia brings together Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar folk songs, demonstrating the connection between the two cultures and their ability to resonate together.

Music of Ukraine and Crimea

The album combines songs from Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar traditions. Ukrainian melodies meet Crimean Tatar songs, while the sound of traditional instruments creates a unique atmosphere in which music becomes a bridge between cultures.

The record features 14 tracks, including “Krym — Mii Dim” (Crimea — My Home), “Parafraz Na Krymskotatarski Temy” (Paraphrase on Crimean Tatar Themes), “Chervona Kalyna” (Red Viburnum), “Men Bostancı Değilim” (I Am Not a Gardener), “V Osychyni Ta V Berezyni” (In the Alder Grove and in the Birch Grove), “Bağçalarda Kestane” (Chestnuts in the Gardens), “Pozhenu Ya Syvi Voly” (I Will Drive the Grey Oxen), “Yaylâ Boyü”, “Ne Plach, Karoooka Moya” (Do Not Cry, My Dark-Eyed Girl), “Yösmam”, “Rano-Rano Hovoryla Yablunka” (The Little Apple Tree Spoke Early, Early), “Santur Mix”, “Kolyss’kova” (Lullaby), and “Padishakhovi Svitu — Khvala I Chest” (Praise and Honor to the Ruler of the World).

This is music about land, memory, and people. About Crimea as home. About a culture that continues to live despite war, occupation, and attempts to erase its identity.

The record comes in a gatefold sleeve and is released in a limited edition of 299 copies.

Every copy is complemented by an insert and a postcard, created especially for this release.

A Record That Helps

The Yuşan-Zillia vinyl release has not only a cultural but also a charitable purpose.

The project and its vinyl edition were created to support the Wolves da Vinci and their fundraising efforts. The release transforms a musical and cultural project into a physical artifact while also contributing to the support of those defending Ukraine.

Proceeds from the sale of the records are directed to support the needs of the “Vidholos” Patronage Service of the Wolves da Vinci Battalion.

Thus, every copy of Yuşan-Zillia purchased is not simply a music release, but also a contribution to supporting Ukrainian defenders.

Yuşan-Zillia — Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar Culture on Vinyl

Yuşan-Zillia is more than a collection of folk songs. It is a meeting of two cultures, two traditions, and two voices united by shared land, history, and memory.

The vinyl record preserves this project as a physical artifact — a limited edition that can be listened to, collected, and passed on.

Yuşan-Zillia — about a memory that brings you home.

TILKITAK Records is an independent Ukrainian label that releases music by Ukrainian artists on physical formats and works to preserve Ukrainian musical heritage through vinyl records.
