Myroslav Kuvaldin & Instrumental-Blindage Ensemble of Chanson (IBASh) — “Chiki-Bum!” is an album born during the war, where frontline humor, irony, and chanson-inspired melodies become an honest musical account of today’s reality.

IBASh — the Instrumental-Blindage Ensemble of Chanson — is a musical project created by Myroslav Kuvaldin during the war. The songs emerged during trips to military units, conversations with service members, and from direct experience of life during wartime.

The music of IBASh combines frontline humor, dark irony, absurdity, jazz influences, and chanson-inspired melodies. It is music that allows difficult subjects to be discussed openly and honestly, while still leaving room for laughter even in circumstances where it seems there should be none.

“Chiki-Bum!” is IBASh’s debut album. It was not born in a studio, but within the military — as a way of documenting experiences, supporting one another, and preserving inner resilience.

The album features 12 compositions: “Chiki-Bum,” “Yde Pikhota,” “Morpikh,” “Dyktator Mody,” “Serzhant,” “Mamo,” “69 OBTrO,” “Ya Liubliu Kombata,” “Dui-Dui,” “Zhodnoho Zi Sliv,” “Ty Takyi Tsikavyi,” and “Brate.”

IBASh — Music of a Shared Experience

The ensemble consists of four active service members: Myroslav Kuvaldin on guitar, Andrii Kokhan on bass, Yaroslav Nikolaienko on saxophone, and Pavlo Didkivskyi on trumpet. They are joined by civilian singer and pianist Yuliia Frants.

Their music grows from a shared experience of war, frontline trips, conversations, memories, and mutual support. Here, tension coexists with laughter, while difficult subjects take on an unexpectedly vivid and human form.

Chiki-Bum! — On Vinyl

“Chiki-Bum!” is released on vinyl for the first time in collaboration between Myroslav Kuvaldin, IBASh, and TILKITAK Records.

A limited edition on 180g Black Vinyl — 299 hand-numbered copies. The first 99 copies include autographs.

The edition includes an insert with the song lyrics, a separate autograph insert, and a sticker pack.

“Chiki-Bum!” is not only a musical document of its time, but also a physical release created to preserve this story on vinyl.
