Product description
A gathering of fragments, a search for pieces of ancient systems, a reinterpretation. To feel the experience of generations and find something for oneself.
Zelene is a legendary musical project created in 2005, which aimed to reinterpret ancient Ukrainian folk songs and melodies. It is not a compilation of various artists in the modern sense, but rather a conceptual studio project in which authentic vocals and folk instruments are combined with electronic sound.
The following people participated in the project's development at the Kofein studio in 2005:
- Olena Lvova – vocals;
- Tania Shamshetdinova – keyboards;
- Petro Yakovchenko – trumpet, backing vocals;
- Andriy Makarenko – mixing, backing vocals;
- Hennadiy Sydorov – guitars, melodramatic recitation, backing vocals.
Zelene – this compilation album became one of the first and most successful examples of a harmonious combination of authentic folk songs with modern electronic arrangements. Instead of being a museum exhibit, folklore here is transformed into a meditative, "ethno-trance" experience. The idea of the project was to create a musical bridge that would integrate deep cultural heritage into the 21st century, opening it up to new generations.
For the first time, the arrangement authors also presented a bonus track, "Od Krakova" (Hennadiy Sydorov and Tania Sha Shamshetdinova), to the album's fans.
As Tania herself notes: “We looked at the song ‘Od Krakova za Voyachka’ (From Krakow for a Soldier) even back then, in 2005. But we couldn't figure out how to do it. Maybe we had to wait...”
The album “Zelene 2024” – a modern interpretation of traditional Ukrainian music, in a remastered release of almost twenty years ago, is issued by ТІЛЬКИТАК Records and is a true artifact. It emphasizes both the cultural and aesthetic significance of the album. The circulation totals 299 copies and includes: an insert and a postcard with illustrations created for the album, and the record in green color, complementing the concept, pressed on 180g vinyl, which ensures the clarity of the electronic sound and the depth of the vocals. It is externally framed with an Obi-Strip featuring hand-numbering, indicating the specific copy.
